Think About His Love
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes on Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16
We begin this week, one of the most precious times of the Christian year, reflecting on all the things that took place in the life of our Lord Jesus, as the events of His earthly life will culminate on His crucifixion on Calvary’s cross for you and me.
I want to encourage you to not run through this week on auto-pilot. I want to encourage you to take your Bible and read over from the gospels the last week of our Savior.
Put yourself in the Upper Room as He has this one last intimate meal with His disciples. Allow yourself to be in the Garden of Gethsemane, to have a bird’s eye view as Jesus prays in agony as He contemplates what is about to unfold.
Try to imagine Jesus in Pilate’s hall. Hear the crack of the whip as it snaps on the back of your Savior. Hear the ripping of flesh. The mocking. The jeering. He did this for YOU!
Follow Him on the road to Calvary. Here the cries of His followers. Travel to Calvary. Listen and watch as the Roman guards toss their criminal to the ground. Hear the nails being pounded into His hands. His feet. Feel the awful dreadful pain as the cross is jolted into the ground. The clothes ripped from his body. He did this for YOU!
He hangs there naked. Taunted. Laughed at! Spit upon! Hanging and suffering in agony. He did this for YOU!
Maybe this was what Isaac Watts was contemplating when he penned these words:
When I survey the wondrous cross
On which the Prince of glory died,
My richest gain I count but loss,
And pour contempt on all my pride.
Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast,
Save in the death of Christ my God!
All the vain things that charm me most,
I sacrifice them to His blood.
See from His head, His hands, His feet,
Sorrow and love flow mingled down!
Did e’er such love and sorrow meet,
Or thorns compose so rich a crown?
Were the whole realm of nature mine,
That were a present far too small;
Love so amazing, so divine,
Demands my soul, my life, my all.
Think about his love this week, brothers. He did it all for you!

Think About This: The truth of our Lord Jesus Christ is what is worth living for, and what is worth dying for. —W. Robert Godfrey
Verses to Memorize: But, as it is written, “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him”— these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. 2Corinthians 2:9-10
