But from eternity to eternity the Lord’s faithful love is toward those who fear Him, and His righteous. Psalm 103:17

I don’t know about what you are experiencing right now, but so many of our friends are struggling right now. We have friends whose 19 year old son was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident, a friend just diagnosed with breast cancer, and another who has ovarian cancer. He husband is also battling lymphoma. Two dear friends have had a major marriage crisis. And the list goes on and on.

Our friend, Bobby Michaels recorded this Steven Curtis Chapman song many years ago. It is a great reminder that we have a Redeemer who is Faithful and True. I have included the lyrics and the link. Bobby went home to be with the Lord two years ago. We still miss you, Bobby!

As I look back on the road I’ve travelled,
I see so many times He carried me through;
And if there’s one thing that I’ve learned in my life,
My Redeemer is faithful and true.
My Redeemer is faithful and true.

Chorus:
My Redeemer is faithful and true.
Everything He has said He will do,
And every morning His mercies are new.
My Redeemer is faithful and true.

My heart rejoices when I read the promise
‘There is a place I am preparing for you.’
I know someday I’ll see my Lord face to face,
‘Cause my Redeemer is faithful and true.
My Redeemer is faithful and true.

Chorus
And in every situation He has proved His love to me;
When I lack the understanding, He gives more grace to me.

Maybe you are in the midst of a deep struggle. Be reminded of this truth today. – Bill Welte is President and CEO of America’s Keswick

Compass Pointers: We must be willing to accept the bitter truth that, in the end, we may have to become a burden to those who love us. But it is necessary that we face this also. The full acceptance of our abjection and uselessness is the virtue that can make us and others rich in the grace of God. It takes heroic charity and humility to let others sustain us when we are absolutely incapable of sustaining ourselves. We cannot suffer well unless we see Christ everywhere, both in suffering and in the charity of those who come to the aid of our affliction. Thomas Merton

My Redeemer is Faithful and True (Part 2)

First of all, I apologize that we are having so much trouble with the Freedom Fighter emails. Please be assured that we are still writing them daily. I would encourage you to check the blog or read them off my page of Facebook.

Today I received word that my dear friend and brother in Christ, Bobby Michaels, went home to be with Jesus while being prepped for his open heart surgery. His heart stopped prior to the procedure and they worked on him for 45 minutes.

Watching Bobby, Lee, Jeff and Rachel go through this experience has been a painful reminder of what we experienced during Lindsay’s illness and homegoing this time last year. In fact next weekend is the one year anniversary of her first open heart surgery.

Grief is not easily understood. We have learned so much this year about the grieving process. We have experienced the waves and rolls of grief, and by God’s grace, He has seen us through. We’ve had people “try” to give us all kinds of advice — people who think we are grieving too much, too publicly, not grieving enough to not grieving enough publicly. People have told us that we should be past the crying and be moving on in the process.

We have learned that grief was experienced by Jesus — the Son of God. He cried when His best friend, Lazarus died. We have learned that tears are often the means that God uses to provide comfort — His comfort. In fact, He said, “Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted.”

We have learned the sometimes the best way to encourage someone who has lost a loved one is to simply shut up and just let the person know, “Hey, I don’t know what to say — but I can pray for you.” Sometimes just a hug, a card, and email saying, “We care …” can mean so much.

We have also been blessed to still hear stories of how Lindsay’s life is still touching people’s lives. Her blog is now over 65,000 hits. Just this past weekend, one of Laura’s friends was baptised. In her testimony she shared that she received Christ because of what she learned as Laura and Jon went through with Lindsay. Lindsay’s sickness had such an impact on her life.

Bobby touched hundreds of thousands of lives. The final chapter of the influence of his life has yet to be written. Only eternity will reveal the impact of his life and testimony.

Lee, Rachel and Jeff — we love you and pray for you. Thanks for sharing Bobby with countless millions around the world. Thank you for allowing Bobby to share JESUS with millions of people globally. May you experience God’s peace, and know in your heart of hearts that YOUR Redeemer … is Faithful and True.

If you’d like to encourage Lee and the kids, respond to this email and we will forward it to them. Thanks to our FF family for praying for the family. — Bill Welte is President and CEO of America’s KESWICK

I apologize that you have not received the email version of Freedom Fighters for the past few days. There is some glitch which we are working on. In the event that you do not receive your daily version, you can get in on the Keswick website (http://www.americaskeswick.org/364426.ihtml#h_2228) and go back and read the past entries.
I can’t remember exactly the year that I met Bobby Michaels, but I know it had to be at least 25 years ago and maybe more. Jan and I were attending the Christian Booksellers Convention in Atlanta, GA, and when we walked into the meeting room, there he stood in his khaki outfit!!! He looked like he had just stepped out of the jungle … And since he spent a great deal of time in South Africa, I guess he was dressed appropriately.
That was the first time we heard the song, MY REDEEMER IS FAITHFUL and TRUE. We fell in love with the singer and the lyrics, and years later, learned that a new artist, Steven Curtis Chapman, had penned the words to the song.
We’ve had the joy of watching Bobby’s life and ministry over these many years. He has been a faithful servant of the Lord, not serving like most musicians. Yes, he does concerts, but his ministry is very unique in that much of his time is spent overseas doing mission trips with a purpose.
In fact, Bobby calls himself a “musicianary.” He loves the Lord and loves sharing the gospel on the mission field, whether it be in Africa or the nations in the Near East.
Last week we were in Williamsburg on vacation, and I was walking early in the morning, listening to music on my Ipod. I usually use the mode that takes songs from a variety of projects rather than just listen to one album, so I was quite pleased when I heard the introduction to Bobby’s version of MY REDEEMER. As I listened to the song, I remembered that Bobby and Lee were in Thailand and Cambodia, and paused to pray for their trip. I specifically prayed that Bobby and Lee would experience the reality of that song which has been a major part of their music ministry.
Upon return to our condo, I fired up FACEBOOK, and just happened to see that my friend, Scott Wesley Brown, was online. I normally do not pester Scott, but for whatever reason (hmmmm), I decided to click on his picture and saw the announcement that Bobby Michaels had a massive heart attack and was in serious condition in a hospital in Thailand.
For the last week, Bobby has been in critical condition. Apart from a miracle, he is facing major heart surgery on Tuesday, at 6:00 AM our time. I am calling on my Freedom Fighter family to lift up this special servant of the Lord, his wife, Lee, and his kids, Jeff and Rachel. I know that they would appreciate your prayer support.
May these words minister to your heart today:

As I look back on the road I’ve travelled,
I see so many times He carried me through;
And if there’s one thing that I’ve learned in my life,
My Redeemer is faithful and true. My Redeemer is faithful and true.
CHORUS

My Redeemer is faithful and true.
Everything He has said He will do,
And every morning His mercies are new.
My Redeemer is faithful and true.
My heart rejoices when I read the promise
‘There is a place I am preparing for you.’
I know someday I’ll see my Lord face to face,
‘Cause my Redeemer is faithful and true.
My Redeemer is faithful and true.
(chorus)And in every situation He has proved His love to me;
When I lack the understanding, He gives more grace to me.
