Spirit-Filled Craftsmen

Spirit-Filled Craftsmen

There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit is the source of them all. There are different kinds of service, but we serve the same Lord. God works in different ways, but it is the same God who does the work in all of us. (1 Corinthians 12: 4-6 NLT)

How many people do you know who feel they have nothing special, no gift, they can offer the Lord?

Think Victory_2 EDIT

In Exodus 31: 1-6 there is a description of the special people, gifted of God and filled with the Spirit, who did “menial” tasks in the building of the tabernacle. In 1 Peter 4: 10a (NLT) we’re told, God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Specifically mentioned is the gift of helps.

Helps? That doesn’t sound very spiritual ! But preaching… or teaching… or worship leading… or singing, playing an instrument… or being involved in drama… or administration (heading a ministry of the church)… or ???? They’re great. No, we’re talking about helps!

If the English language means anything at all, those verses mean that people who do regular things, not just “ministry” things, have a spiritual gift from God. That means you can minister with your talent.

How I thank God for people who have the gift of helps. Where would our churches and para-church ministries be today if we didn’t have volunteers who love to serve Jesus with their abilities, talents, gifts?

In my experience I have seen people who have built buildings, worked full-time in food service, repaired all manner of electrical products, re-wired an entire camp, kept major large pieces of equipment running, headed a volunteer organization, etc., etc., etc., all as volunteers.

You have heard, “time is money.” Think of the money saved by Christian ministries because of the volunteerism they have experienced. But perhaps of even greater value is the spiritual fulfillment of the volunteer who fully realizes that he/ she has used the gift God gave to honor Him and further His cause.

Some say that 80% of the ministry is perpetuated by 20% of the people. Let’s change those statistics and get involved.

What is it that you can do? Which church or Christian ministry can you serve? God has placed something inside of you that you do well. Do it for Jesus. If you have never known the joy of serving, why not begin now?

A volunteer for Jesus, a soldier true.
Others have enlisted, why not you?
Jesus is the captain, we will never fear.
Will you be enlisted as a volunteer.

Quote of the day: There’s only one condition a man must meet to receive God’s choicest blessings. Man must admit his need. And the only thing in the world that keeps a man from doing this is pride. Richard C. Halverson

Verse to Memorize:  The Lord will keep you from all evil; He will keep your life. The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forever more. Psalm 121:7-8
